What is Otoplasty?
A procedure that repositions ears sitting too far from the head, reshapes an underdeveloped cartilage fold, or reduces excess. It runs roughly 90 minutes to two and a half hours, under local anaesthesia with sedation or general anaesthesia.
How is it different from the alternatives?
The surgeon may reform the anti-helical fold, set back the conchal cartilage, or combine both, and an incisionless suture-only technique suits some ears. The method is matched to your cartilage anatomy rather than applied uniformly.
Am I a candidate?
The surgeon decides from your goal and a few photos, and tells you plainly in your written plan — you do not have to work it out yourself first.
What if I am not a good fit?
Then your plan says so honestly — the surgeon proposes an appropriate alternative, or advises against it. Nothing unsuitable is offered.
What are the risks?
Cartilage can drift back toward its original position, so a small degree of relapse is possible. Perfect symmetry between the ears isn't guaranteed, and the scar behind the ear may feel firm at first before softening over several months.
