What is Lip lift?
A small incision at the base of the nose shortens the philtrum — the gap between nose and lip — so the upper lip rolls up and shows more, without adding volume. Done under local anaesthetic; the scar hides in the shadow under the nose.
How is it different from the alternatives?
Fillers add volume but don't change the philtrum length or the lip's position; a lip lift instead shortens that distance so the upper lip sits higher and shows more of its edge. The two address different things — volume versus structure.
Am I a candidate?
The surgeon decides from your goal and a few photos, and tells you plainly in your written plan — you do not have to work it out yourself first.
What if I am not a good fit?
Then your plan says so honestly — the surgeon proposes an appropriate alternative, or advises against it. Nothing unsuitable is offered.
What are the risks?
The main risk is over-correction: taking too much can leave the lip tight at rest, so the plan stays conservative. Scar healing varies with skin and sun exposure, and a lip lift won't change lip volume, your smile, or how much tooth shows.
