What is Chin augmentation?
A surgeon adds projection or definition to the chin — either by placing a solid silicone implant through a small hidden incision, or by repositioning the chin bone itself. It takes roughly 1.5–2.5 hours under general anaesthesia.
How is it different from the alternatives?
An implant places a silicone shape on the bone to add projection. A sliding genioplasty repositions the bone with titanium plates, adjusting projection, height and midline together — for a chin that needs to move in more than one plane.
Am I a candidate?
The surgeon decides from your goal and a few photos, and tells you plainly in your written plan — you do not have to work it out yourself first.
What if I am not a good fit?
Then your plan says so honestly — the surgeon proposes an appropriate alternative, or advises against it. Nothing unsuitable is offered.
What are the risks?
Swelling settles more slowly than most people expect — you'll still look operated at ten days, and the final shape only confirms around nine months. An implant can be felt if you press the chin, which is normal and doesn't mean it moved.
