What is Tummy tuck?
The surgery removes loose or excess abdominal skin, sutures separated abdominal muscles back toward the midline, and re-sites the navel through the new skin flap. It is done under general anaesthesia and takes three to four hours.
How is it different from the alternatives?
A mini tummy tuck treats only the lower panel below the navel and does not reposition it; a full abdominoplasty addresses the whole abdominal wall, tightens the muscles, and re-sites the navel. Which one fits depends on your anatomy.
Am I a candidate?
The surgeon decides from your goal and a few photos, and tells you plainly in your written plan — you do not have to work it out yourself first.
What if I am not a good fit?
Then your plan says so honestly — the surgeon proposes an appropriate alternative, or advises against it. Nothing unsuitable is offered.
What are the risks?
Swelling settles slowly, so the final contour appears around twelve months rather than six weeks, and the internal tightness from the muscle repair is felt for several months. The scar is raised and pink early before it flattens and fades.
